I practice and teach clients a very specific protocol of stretching called Active Isolated Stretching which
is the wave of the future. Flexibility is 50% of muscle power & strength. In order for your biceps to contract, your
triceps MUST relax and stretch completely, if they don't, your biceps have to work harder inviting injury. Most people
skip any kind of flexibility training program and this is how injuries occur! Those who do some stretching either don't
do it correctly, mimicking someone else that doesn't know what they are doing either. Or they go to a yoga class which
teaches you to hold stretch "poses" for long period. This causes the stretch reflex to contract muscles and connective
tissues, causing that "stretch" to be ineffective and even dangerous! It actually DECREASES the blood flow in the
tissue by holding a stretch for any extended period of time.
By stretching,
using short hold time and repetitions, you are actually helping the muscle strengthen more efficiently and increase circulation
and endurance in the tissues making the rest of your workout more effective!
Active Isolated Stretching, is part
"myofascial stretch", part "lymph drainage" part "cardio exercise". It has been known to help
people with different neurological and musculoskeletal conditions like M.S., Parkinson's, Scoliosis. But it has also helped
some of the world's top professional athletes prevent serious injuries and lengthen their career. Most of the protocols
can be done standing or sitting on a folding stool/chair.
Available Protocols:
Neck
Shoulder
Elbow, Radial-Ulnar, Wrist & Hand
Hip & Back
Knee
Ankle/Foot
What YOU have in common with an ORANGE!
What do you see when you peel an orange? Do you see white tissue underneath the skin? This is fascia, connective
tissue that keeps the orange together! Every section of the orange is covered in fascia. If you were to take it away you would
have a sticky mess!
You have fascia under your skin too! It keeps you together and keeps every part of your body
MOVING TOGETHER! Your muscles are actually covered in layers and sections of fascia which helps to make the muscle fiber groups
contract together moving the bones! If you took away the fascia you would be a sticky mess on the ground and NONE of your
muscles or bones would move!
So your fascia is extremely important to keep flexible! I want to help you keep it
flexible so you don't have any health problems! A typical muscle has about 50-200 lower motor neurons(nerve terminals)
connected to it. The fascia has many more nerve attachments than even the muscles themselves! Fascia is very intelligent tissue
and responds to all kinds of stress, good or bad stress! Many of your organs are made up of SMOOTHE MUSCLE TISSUE, FASCIA
and many nerves for communicating with other parts of the body that are seemingly isolated from that organ!
The Benefits
Improves oxygenation and nutrition of myofascial structures
promoting growth and repair
Stimulates circulation and drainage of lymph, which helps eliminate metabolic wastes
Improves
flexibility and health of muscles, tendons, and ligaments
Breaks down the friction and "gluing" among fascial
sheaths
Separates fibrosis and breaks down adhesions that may result from trauma and inflammation
Mom's, dads, children, teenagers, aunts, uncles, families,
etc.
and more... we're working on the list!
