Body Awareness Therapy (B.A.T.) is a 2-hour program that introduces you to our way of EFFECTIVE MANUAL MUSCLE THERAPY! Through B.A.T. We don't just give you a rub down like many "massage therapy services", we are your ACTIVE PARTNER in introducing you to your own body like you've never known it before! This program is designed to specifically focus the therapy to systems & areas of the body commonly affected by stress, tension & chronic pain!

We first show you an educational video on the anatomy & physiology of your body and how it responds to stress, pain & dysfunction, and then shows you how Neuromuscular therapy can help facilitate healing of stressed and injured tissues!  You might be thinking, "I don't need to see a video to tell me that, can I just get the massage or bodywork?" The fact of the matter is, there are many elements of stress that you are not aware of and we need to educate you to empower you with knowledge to be an active part in your own therapy! The video will help to open up communication and that you may understand your role much more clearly to get the most out of the session!

Our approach is very advanced and comprehensive compared to most massage therapy sessions available. Our session is more than just a typical "deep tissue massage". We use Neuromuscular Therapy, a very specific type of soft tissue manipulation that helps to increase circulation in the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (connective tissues that hold us together) as well as release trigger points that cause referred pain; We use Myofascial Therapy  to break up adhesions in the fascial layers of the body letting those layers of fascia and muscles & organs glide smoothely against each other without added friction and stress from repetitive stress injuries; We use Active Isolated Stretching & Strengthening for optimal flexibility & strength of tissues, we use Movement Re-Education techniques for optimal function of proprioception in the body to correct bad movement habits you have picked up due to minor and major injuries or repetitive stress injuries, and posture distortion. We may use Acupressure & Reflexology to facilitate energy flow for all of your organs and healing. We may use other types of methods you may not even be aware of, in a session.

We  also understand the importance for proper nutrition and self-care to assist in making the therapeutic massage more effective for the body to heal/balance itself. This is why we might share how to improve overall health with certain foods or food-based supplements and self-care exercises that are highly recommended to use to improve your overall wellness and be able to do more for yourself and your health!

Posture Assessment

We will perform a Postural & Movement Assessment before we perform any therapeutic bodywork! This is required so that we are INFORMED about how your stress is influencing your body! Not performing these types of assessments is like performing massage blind-folded! This takes a little extra time, but helps in creating an effective treatment plan!
